The Battle Moves to New York: Stop Dobson!

June 17, 1998 Facebook Twitter LinkedIn Blogger Tumblr

James Dobson and Gary Bauer have a new foot soldier running in the Republican primary for Congress in New York. And it's a doozy.

Radical right, anti-gay activist Randall Terry has been raising hundreds of thousands of dollars to run for Congress from the 26th district of New York State on the Republican ticket and is raising more than 90% of his money from outside of New York. Yes, its the same Randall Terry of Operation Rescue.

His message is one of hatred and anti-gay rhetoric that is unacceptable to Log Cabin Republicans. Here is one of his recent quotes:

"I want you to just let a wave of intolerance wash over you. I want to let a wave of hatred wash over you. Yes, hate is good! We have a biblical duty, we are called by God, to conquer this country!" – The Arizona Republic, July 1996

"I rarely do political endorsements, but I'm making an exception now to personally endorse Randall Terry because I believe in this man," Dobson wrote in a letter of support. "We could use his leadership on key issues like ... opposing same-sex marriage and special rights for homosexuals."

The fight goes on! We must continue to fight Dobson and Bauer every step of the way. It is essential that we defeat Randall Terry and show, once again, that hatred and intolerance will not win Republican primaries, or general elections, regardless the amount of money spent.

Randall Terry is currently raising additional dollars through video distribution and soliciting support through a 1-800 number. Please take the time to express your opposition to his message and intolerance.

Democrats, Republicans, Independents. Unite against our common enemies in Dobson and Bauer. Let Randall Terry know your views.
