(Washington, DC) – Log Cabin Republicans welcome the 109th Congress as members are being sworn in today. "We are confident that Republican leadership in both chambers will continue defending America from terrorism, both at home and abroad, and will continue growing the American economy," said Patrick Guerriero, President of Log Cabin Republicans. "Log Cabin is particularly proud that 25 Log Cabin endorsees will be among those sworn in today. Log Cabin looks forward to working with Republicans in the House and Senate to create a brighter future for all Americans, including gay and lesbian Americans."

Among the members being sworn in today are 25 Republicans endorsed by Log Cabin during the 2004 election. This list includes influential Senators Arlen Specter (R-PA) and John McCain (R-AZ), as well as 23 members of the House.

"Log Cabin proudly stood beside our fair-minded friends during the 2004 campaign. These courageous leaders serve the nation with distinction and have worked to expand equality for all Americans. We look forward to working with Republicans in both the House and the Senate to continue building an inclusive Republican Party," said Log Cabin Political Director Chris Barron. "During the 109th Congress there will be important debates about Social Security reform, tax reform, immigration reform, and HIV/AIDS funding. Log Cabin looks forward to working with Republican leadership on these and other critical issues."
