(WASHINGTON, DC) – Log Cabin Republicans salute Arnold Schwarzenegger in his remarkable and historic victory in the California recall election on Tuesday.

"It is a new day in California politics and a new day for the Republican party in the Golden State," said Log Cabin Executive Director Patrick Guerriero. "A moderate, gay friendly Republican will now lead the largest state in our nation. Schwarzenegger's inclusive, tolerant message worked – the numbers don't lie. An astounding 61 percent of the California electorate voted Republican."

Log Cabin California endorsed Schwarzenegger after his supportive stances on gay adoption, domestic partner benefits and legal protection for gay and lesbian Californians and their families were made clear.

"I am so proud of all our Log Cabin members who volunteered, appeared in commercials and were on the campaign staff for Arnold," said Jeff Bissiri, president of Log Cabin – California. "Arnold delivered on his commitment to make the "Big Tent" part of his campaign and he scored a decisive victory because of that decision," Bissiri added.

"The Log Cabin slogan "Inclusion Wins" was proven right once again. This is another reminder that the Republican party wins when our candidates campaign with an inclusive message that focuses on core Republican values," concluded Guerriero.
