(Washington, DC) – Log Cabin Republicans congratulate Joe Solmonese on being named President of the Human Rights Campaign. "We congratulate Joe on his appointment as President of HRC. Joe is an experienced Democratic activist, proven manager, and effective fund-raiser. Log Cabin looks forward to working with Joe and HRC in our bi-partisan work to provide basic fairness for gay and lesbian families," said Log Cabin Republicans President Patrick Guerriero.

Solmonese is the former head of Emily's List. Emily's List works to elect pro-choice Democratic women to federal, state, and local offices.

"The selection of an experienced Democratic activist will allow HRC to solidify and strengthen Democratic support for equality. As the leading voice for moderate and conservative gay Americans, Log Cabin recognizes our unique responsibility to make new allies in the Republican Party," said Log Cabin Political Director Chris Barron. "Log Cabin is expanding its commitment to work with people in the Heartland, conservatives in red state America, and with people of faith. In addition, we are pursuing an aggressive legislative agenda that includes Social Security reform, tax reform, and Ryan White CARE Act reform and re-authorization."
