On Tax Day, It's Time for Fundamental Tax Reform

(Washington, DC) - Log Cabin Republicans issued the following statement in support of comprehensive tax reform that keeps taxes low and treats all Americans equally.

"Log Cabin Republicans, like all conservatives, are committed to lower taxes and a fairer tax code as part of our commitment to greater liberty and stimulating economic growth," said R. Clarke Cooper, Executive Director of Log Cabin Republicans. "As leaders like Representative Dave Camp (R-MI) make progress on fundamental reform of the tax code, it is important that Congress address the burden imposed on millions of same-sex couples and companies that choose to provide critical health benefits for domestic partners.

Representatives Judy Biggert (R-IL), Bob Dold (R-IL), Mike Fitzpatrick (R-PA), Richard Hanna (R-NY), Nan Hayworth (R-NY), Ileana Ros-Lehtinen (R-FL) and Senator Susan Collins (R-ME) are leading the effort to pass the Tax Parity for Health Plan Beneficiaries Act to remove the tax penalty on companies that provide benefits to their employees, and keep more money in entrepreneurs' pockets instead of the IRS. While Congress works to reform the tax code, it must stand strong against increasing the burden on taxpayers through President Barack Obama's 'Buffett Rule,' which would punish hard-working Americans, stymie economic growth and do nothing to address the massive deficit which has radically expanded under this president's tenure."
