(Washington, DC) - Log Cabin Republicans statement on Congresswoman Michele Bachmann exiting the presidential race after a dismal performance in the Iowa caucuses.

"Michele Bachmann is not and cannot be a serious contender for the presidency, and Log Cabin Republicans are happy to see her step aside. While her focus on limited government and repealing the failed policies of President Obama was a positive, her focus on divisive social issues demonstrated her lack of credibility," said R. Clarke Cooper, Log Cabin Republicans Executive Director. "Despite holding the national spotlight, Congresswoman Bachmann was unable to stand up to national scrutiny. Her performance in Iowa last night should be a lesson to all politicians that earning a reputation for antigay extremism is a harmful distraction that ultimately leads to failure. The Republican Party needs serious candidates who will carry the banner with a focus on jobs and the economy in our goal of winning the White House."
