(Washington, DC) – Log Cabin Republicans strongly support House Budget Committee Chairman Paul Ryan's (R-WI) new budget proposal. Ryan's "The Path to Prosperity" will create a better environment for private-sector job growth, stop Washington from spending money we don't have, and lift the crushing burden of our national debt.

"Congressman Paul Ryan has crafted a serious budget in response to the serious challenges facing our nation today," said R. Clarke Cooper, Log Cabin Republicans Executive Director. "In Congressman Ryan's words, this proposal 'moves the debate from billions in spending cuts to trillions,' cutting $6.2 trillion in spending and $1.8 trillion in taxes compared to President Obama's plan. Ryan's plan returns government spending to 2008 levels, addresses military spending, welfare reform and our outdated tax code, and finally confronts entitlement spending head-on by taking action to ensure the solvency of Medicare. Passing this budget would indeed be 'a sign that the election did in fact change the debate in Washington from how much we should spend to how much spending we should cut,' but it won't happen unless we work together. Neither the Republican Party nor the country as a whole can afford a government shutdown at this time. Congressman Ryan has provided the path. It is time to keep moving forward."
