Businessman and Ally, Congressman Richard Hanna Co-Sponsors Employment Nondiscrimination Act
(Washington, DC) - Log Cabin Republicans efforts to pass the Employment Nondiscrimination Act advanced today as Congressman Richard Hanna (R-NY) joined the growing contingent of Republicans co-sponsoring ENDA.
"As equality marches on nationwide, Log Cabin Republicans have not forgotten that many LGBT Americans still fear for their jobs for reasons beyond a lackluster economy," said R. Clarke Cooper, Log Cabin Republicans Executive Director. "We are committed to continuing our work advocating for the Employment Nondiscrimination Act in this Congress, and excited to have new allies, like Congressman Richard Hanna, in the fight to pass this important law. As a successful businessman, Congressman Hanna has the experience and credentials to make the case for employment nondiscrimination within the Republican caucus. Where Democratic majorities in both houses failed to move this long-overdue legislation, bipartisan efforts will succeed. We are grateful for Congressman Hanna's leadership."
"All Americans deserve the freedom to work without fear of discrimination or harassment, yet it remains legal to discriminate based on sexual orientation," Congressman Richard Hanna said. "This is unacceptable and undermines our economic productivity. I am pleased to co-sponsor this important legislation to advance equal workplace rights for all individuals in our free nation."
