(Washington, DC) - Log Cabin Republicans are proud to announce that the organization will honor Senator Susan Collins (R-ME) with the Spirit of Lincoln Award, it's highest honor, during its national dinner held September 20th at the Hyatt Regency in Washington, DC.

"Senator Collins was relentless in working to end 'Don't Ask, Don't Tell' and Log Cabin Republicans are proud to call her one of our greatest allies," said R. Clarke Cooper, Log Cabin Republicans Executive Director. "We look forward to the opportunity to thank Senator Collins for truly embodying the spirit of Lincoln with her efforts expanding freedom for all. She was the tip of the spear in passing legislation to allow for open service by gay and lesbian Americans, and Log Cabin Republicans will never forget her place on the right side of history."

"I believe that the Republican party must be an inclusive, big-tent party that will always stand for fairness over discrimination," said Senator Collins. "I am honored to work with Log Cabin Republicans and to be recognized for my work to repeal "Don't Ask, Don't Tell," and to help provide Americans full protection under the law against discrimination."
