(Washington, DC) - Log Cabin Republicans are proud to announce our endorsement of Log Cabin Republicans member Richard Tisei for Massachusetts 6th Congressional seat.

"The people of Massachusetts 6th Congressional District are ready for a new direction in Washington. Richard Tisei is the only candidate with the experience and leadership to address government spending and economic growth. Log Cabin Republicans are excited to have one of our own running for Congress," said R. Clarke Cooper, Log Cabin Republicans Executive Director. "In his twenty-six year tenure in the legislature, Richard has proven himself to be a capable and talented public servant, and his record has earned the support of Republican leaders, including Senator Scott Brown. As a state senator, Richard fought for a legislative agenda that emphasized government reforms and transparency for the taxpayers. He opposed tax increases and staunchly advocated balanced budgets. He is ready and able to join the GOP majority in Congress fighting to create jobs and turn this economy around, and Log Cabin Republicans will work to send him to Washington this November.

"I'm very pleased to have the support of my friends at Log Cabin. I believe that each of us ought to be judged on the content of our character and that all of us should have equal rights under the law," said Tisei. "Log Cabin Republicans represent the simple fact that diversity goes well beyond gender, race, or sexual orientation. It goes to our thoughts, viewpoints, and experiences as individuals. I believe that each of us should do our utmost to understand and appreciate others, whether we identify with them or not. Our elected leaders ought to be emphasizing what we have in common as human beings - and protecting the God-given rights of each and every one of us. I appreciate that the Log Cabin Republicans continue to play such an important role in these important efforts in our country."

Cooper continued, saying "if elected, Richard would add his commonsense, conservative voice to Congress. His election is critical to efforts to advance pro-equality legislation, as he will be in a position to speak directly to his colleagues about how the legislation directly affects him and the millions of other gay Americans. Richard has long been a critical voice in support of the freedom to marry in Massachusetts, and as a member of the Republican majority, he will be critical in building support for repealing the so-called 'Defense of Marriage' Act. He will continue his support for combatting workplace discrimination and ending the domestic partner tax penalty. Log Cabin Republicans believe in making a difference from within the party as proud Republicans, and Richard's presence in the GOP caucus will be invaluable to future efforts on behalf of freedom for all."
